Love Monster

How to draw a Love Monster, from the Guardian by Rachel Bright

I stumbled across this as I was reading the news.  I thought it was adorable, easy, and used great basic Shapes.  I decided to give it a try in one of my lessons.  I first practiced at home:

Not too shabby ))))

Then in my lesson, I instructed my student to follow the same steps.  What is interesting here, my student is only 5 years old and is still not very comfortable with English.  But I gave all my instructions in English as I drew along on my paper.  I used simple commands such as “Draw two circles.” And then, I drew 2 circles.  She then drew 2 circles.  “Draw two triangles.” And so on and so forth…

Here was my drawing I was doing during my instruction:

And her monster:

I was thrilled how this lesson went.  We’ll see how this fares with the 4 year olds!
